Centennial Park Training Ride

Saturday, 5 March 2011.

Ric met Andrew up on the Pacific Highway for an easy warm up ride across the Harbour Bridge and through the CBD to Centennial Park. The ride along Oxford Street is always interesting in the light of the early morning, and on this particular morning we got to witness the preparations for the Mardi Gras.

We caught up with Pete, James and Dom at Centennial Park, and then embarked upon a planned ride of 10 laps or so. You can see our route here.

We were in good company yesterday morning with hundreds of other lycra clad wannabees spinning around the 4km circuit. We also saw plenty of others out running, walking their dogs and taking coffee.

It was a pretty easy outing for all of us, and quite enjoyable. Certainly not in the class of last weekend's Four Gorges extravaganza.

We finished up at one of the cafes in the park and enjoyed a coffee and something to eat. James was putting together the final touches for his Buck's Party that night, so it was just as well the ride had been easy. But you do have to question a chap who synchronises his bash with the Gay & Lesbian Mardis Gras!
